International Students

Thousands of students from around the world have selected Southeast for its academic excellence, welcoming spirit, safety, and extracurricular opportunities. Are you ready to join them?

At Southeast, you won’t just be learning in the classroom, you’ll be putting your knowledge into practice from your very first day. Whether it’s in a lab, on a stage, at our very own research farm, in your classroom, in a gallery, across the nation, or around the world, we don’t just tell you about the profession you’re going into. We give you the experience to do it.

Every year we welcome Redhawks from 50 countries around the world. Join us in Cape Girardeau, and you’ll be a Redhawk, too. Southeast students get free admission to all athletic events, discounted tickets to performances at the River Campus, and plenty of opportunities to showcase their Redhawk pride.

Steps to Admission

You're considered an international student if you are not a U.S. citizen or dual citizen with the U.S., or if you are not a permanent resident of the U.S.

Submit your online application.

The online application is a quick and easy form that allows us to know a little more about you. There are a couple of notes you’ll want to make sure you remember when you fill out the applications:

Pay the $60 application fee.

After submitting the online application, you will prompted to pay the $60 international application fee. International applications are not processed by our admissions team until the fee is paid, so to ensure the fastest processing time, it is best to pay the fee immediately after you submit the online application. If you do not pay the application fee right away, you can go back and pay at any time by selecting “Pay Application” inside your application account.

Email supporting documents.

All required admission documents must be uploaded into the online application. To ensure the fastest processing time, make sure all required documents have been uploaded to the application before submitting. Generally, the following documents are required for admission:

Mail your official transcripts

Southeast admits most first-time undergraduate and graduate applicants based on the submission of unofficial copies of their transcripts and test scores.

Admitted students are not allowed to claim scholarship benefits and/or enroll in their second-term classes until all required official documents have been received and processed.
