To ensure that all students are equipped with key baseline and foundational knowledge for graduate-level coursework in business, Rowan University requires all students to satisfy a set of Foundation requirements in the following content areas:
Typically, students with an undergraduate degree in business will have satisfied many of these course requirements. Students can begin in the MBA program prior to satisfying all Foundation requirements. However, these requirements must be satisfied early in the program to maintain forward momentum towards degree completion.
For those candidates who haven't taken the required foundational classes yet, fulfilling the coursework can be done in a variety of ways, such as equivalent undergraduate courses, noncredit tests, online courses, and community college classes.
Until required Foundation courses are satisfied there will be restrictions on access to graduate-level courses based on standard prerequisite settings. How do I know if the courses I am planning to take at another institution are equivalent to my required foundation courses?
If you are planning on taking a foundation course at another institution located in New Jersey, utilitze the Rowan Transfer Equivalency Database to view the course equivalencies between the institution and Rowan University. If the course in question isn’t listed in the Rowan Transfer Equivalence database, the Graduate Business Studies office will require further documentation (such as a syllabus or course description) to consider if the course you plan to take is equivalent to your required foundation course.
Can I take my Foundation courses at Rowan?Yes! All Foundation courses are offered at Rowan through our undergraduate programs. You will find these courses as you search the Section Tally or the Undergraduate Catalog for details on offerings.
*Note that as a matriculated MBA student, you will be charged the Graduate vs. Undergraduate rate for all Foundation courses.

What is a CLEP exam?CLEP exams are part of the College Level Examination Program from the College Board. This program allows students to receive academic credit for skills and knowledge they may already possess through the successful completion of a test.
Additionally, students are allowed to complete FREE course modules at the Modern States website in preparation for their specific CLEP exam. Completion of Modern States courses will earn you a voucher to take the appropriate CLEP exam for free.
Am I eligible to take the CLEP exam?Yes. Anyone can take part in the College Level Examination Program or CLEP. This includes both current and prospective students. Individuals seeking to take the CLEP exam can do so at local testing centers or Rowan University’s Testing Center.
What courses can be covered by the CLEP exam? Foundation Courses with available CLEP Exam Options are:The CLEP test costs $89 with a $33.50 proctoring fee*. Students can apply for test fee and proctoring waivers through the Modern States Association upon successful completion of the preparatory course.

Can the CLEP be taken online?No, at this time, the CLEP exam is only available to be taken in person at an approved testing center such as Rowan University’s Testing Center.
Are test preparation materials available?Yes, free testing materials are available such as the Modern States Association. The Modern States Association will provide students with proctor fee and test cost waivers upon successful completion of the corresponding CLEP preparation course.
Can I retake a CLEP exam if I do not Pass?Yes. Students can take the test as many times as needed, however, there is a three month waiting period between testing attempts for each subject test.
How do I take courses at Study.com, Sophia.org or Straighterline.com?Students should sign up for the appropriate courses at their website of choice, pay any fees that are necessary and once the course is completed. Request that the transcript be sent from the website directly to Rowan University (an option should be provided within the website).
How do I know if the courses I am planning to take at a community college, Study.com, Sophia.org or Straighterline.com are equivalent to my required Foundation courses?
If you are planning on taking a Foundation course at a community college, Study.com, Sophia.org or Straighterline.com, be sure to utilize the Rowan Transfer Equivalency Database to view course equivalencies between the institution and Rowan University. If the course in question is not listed in the transfer equivalency database, or you’re having trouble determining course equivalents, the Graduate Business Studies office can assist in determining equivalent options.

Yes! With our Senior Privilege program, Seniors at Rowan University who have at least a 3.0 GPA may request permission from the Rowan Global Learning & Partnerships to register for one graduate-level course per semester. The total number of graduate credits taken shall not exceed 6 semester hours.
Seniors do not have to pay the Graduate level tuition rate.
You may take the GMAT during your senior year while enrolled in a graduate level course. Seniors may also be interested in our 4+1 MBA Program. This allows students who take advantage of the Senior Privilege to complete their MBA in one year.
What are the start and end dates for each semester?The program can be completed in a year (four semesters) full time, but most students take between two and six years. The program must be completed within six years.

What are the class sizes?The online, hybrid and face-to-face graduate business courses offer small class sizes with an average student/faculty ratio of 25 to 1.
Will the program interfere with my job?The Rohrer MBA program is designed for the working professional and should not interfere with your job. The classes meet one evening per week, online, or through hybrid courses.
